This is proving to be an eventful, if trying international break. City have confirmed that the injured Carlos Tevez is out of the Arsenal game…

This won’t come as too much of a surprise as a knee injury like the one he suffered for Argentina against Brazil will require careful monitoring.

Okay, even fully fit the jet lagged star would only have arrived back in Manchester the day before the sell out game but it’s a huge body blow to a City squad itching for a crack at the Premier League’s big guns.

Mark Hughes told the official site:

‘We heard yesterday that Carlos had a knee problem, our doctor has spoken to the Argentine medical people and the feeling is that he is out for the weekend so he will not play against Arsenal.’The hope is that he will be OK for the derby, but we will have to determine that when he comes back.

‘He is staying with the national squad because he needs acute treatment at the early stage of the injury, which is what he can get now. Flying him back quickly might compromise the injury, so he will be back towards the end of the week so we can assess him and hopefully get him ready for the United game.

‘It was an impact injury, he has twisted his knee but it could have happened in a training session or just walking down the road. Its part and parcel of the game, we feel it’s not going to compromise him too much and that it will only be one game that he has to miss.’

It certainly doesn’t sound too good and with Robinho also knacked playing in the same game, City fans eyes are looking towards Roque Santa Cruz and wondering when he will make his City debut.

If Robbie doesn’t make it, then Sparky’s striking options for Arsenal are down to Bellamy and Adebayor with Benjani, Santa Cruz, Tevez and Robbie all injured.
