After just nine months at the helm former Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson received his Mexican equivalent of the P45 earlier today.

The Mexican Football Federation announced the Swede’s departure following a string a poor results, with many thinking the straw that broke the camels back was the poor performance and subsequent 3-1 defeat in Honduras on Wednesday.

The Mexican president Justino Compean said…

‘The measures which we will take will be for the good of the Mexican team and we will take any decision we have to, no matter how difficult or hard it may be.’

Having played three World Cup qualifying games in their complicated round robin system Mexico have won one and lost two.

The standings after three games are…

USA – 7 points
Costa Rica – 6
Honduras – 4
Mexico – 3
El Salvador – 2
Trinidad & Tobago – 2

I wonder how long it will be before we see Svennis back in the Premier League.
