Team News – Stoke v City

We go again, the disappointment of the weekend could have been worse with defeat I guess, but we can’t afford another slip up in midweek – we can barely afford another one at all this season, which you tend to think is unlikely given our form and performances….

Seeking all three-points to offset the Hull draw slightly, City are off to the Britannia Stadium to take on Mark Hughes’ Stoke tonight, who should be buoyed by the injury-time point of their own at Newcastle on Sunday.

That game came at a cost for Stoke with Stephen Ireland (hamstring) and Marc Wilson (groin) added to the injured list, which already includes Ryan Shawcross (back), Erik Pieters (hernia), Bojan Krkic and Peter Odemwingie (both knee). One to miss the weekend was Marko Arnautovic (ankle), he could return.

The African Cup of Nations ended at the weekend with Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony winners with the Ivory Coast, neither will return in time for this one though.

Aside from these two it will be a ‘full strength’ squad we sent to Stoke.

This is a game that we need to win, ordinarily we would be expected to win but Stoke’s form isn’t bad and they’re unbeaten in the last six Premier League games against us at home – draws are the common theme, with this the case in the last five played at the Britannia.

Avenging the Etihad defeat is basically a must….
