The Blackburn Fallout

Long standing Vital Manchester City member, italia7482 sent us the following.

Ok, I’m going to make myself more than a little unpopular here I think, but I shall go on regardless. FOR THE RECORD I despise the Munich chants and songs that have been sung and while I dislike United to nearly every degree, it has to be said we lost one of our own in Frank Swift.

I was not born at the time but from what history tells us the City fans were united in their grief and respect for those that lost their lives (as indeed we should have been).

Here’s the controversial bit…I do feel although we had mindless idiots singing that song at Blackburn this is being used as an excuse (by the media) to paint City out as the bad guys of football. After all I’ve heard many a Manchester United fan sing about the 96 Liverpool fans who lost their lives yet I have read precious little of that in the press.

It seems since we won at Blackburn we have suddenly come under a huge media storm about not only Monday night, but questions about Roberto leaving (even one article suggested Carlos Tevez was going because he hated Mancini, and then in the same breath that Mancini would be given £100mil at Juventus and he would take Tevez with him?????) – work that out!

Like I said, I hate the song/chants we have all heard but why is it all of a sudden a HUGE problem. I’ve seen no rational and balanced items on the songs other clubs sing (the Spurs Jew songs – Adebayor’s mums a whore song – Heysel – the Kursk submarine etc) yet now it’s a national topic because some of our morons chose to sing it at Ewood Park.

I don’t seek to excuse them, they are fools but I do think this is all a bit of a massive effort to try and destabilise MCFC before the FA Cup final. To overshadow the fact that we made Sir Alex Ferguson’s lot look ordinary in the semi-final. Our club has sought to eject and ban any who have sung these songs over the years yet other clubs seem very unwilling to do the same (several thousand Arsenal fans in THAT game at ours) for example.

Once again stamp out the idiots at ALL clubs, but don’t suddenly decide we are ALL scum at Eastlands because of the actions of the few, otherwise we could tar every United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs fan with the same brush and just like us honest and well behaved fans they wouldn’t deserve it either.

Thank you
