Pearce has proclaimed ‘The future is looking a touch rosy which is good for me.’

Pearce says the club have been boosted by the news Antoine Sibierski and Stephen Ireland have agreed new contracts.

‘Antoine has signed again, it’s an extension for another year. We have also agreed verbally with Stephen Ireland to extend for another two years. At the moment, everyone who I have asked to extend their contracts in my short reign as manager have been extremely pleased to do so, and have the feeling they want to stay at a club like this.

He has also said that the clubs scouts have been hard at work searching for potential January transfer window signings. Pearce believes City must increase the squad to build on their impressive start to the season.

‘I have been making plans every day for the window. I have had scouts in Europe, I’ve been in Europe and the chief scout is in Europe on a daily basis. We are permanently looking for players and that’s been the case since day one when I took the job.’

Adding:

‘Sooner rather than later we will look at Bosmans and players you have got to pay fees for. We will look right across the spectrum in this country and abroad. We’re short in the squad and it’s been exposed a couple of times when we have had injuries in certain positions.’

The rumour mill is already in full swing and with Pearce watching Fulham last week, the link to Steed Malbranque, who City tried to sign in the summer, has re-surfaced. However Pearce said he went to watch them because we play them in a few weeks.
