VMC is delighted to exclusively announce the opening of a new MCFC Supporters Club in Catalunya! VMC regular Eddie Bell is El Presidente and needs your support…

Eddie takes up the story:

‘It gives me great pleasure to announce the forming of a new supporters club, here in Catalunya. It is the first City Supporters Club in Catalunya and is striking at the heart of the mighty Barcelona. Well, myself and 13 other people, mainly Barca fans!! It is only the third City supporters club in Spain.

‘The club was first brought to light in May 2009 and after some excellent help from Kevin Parker (General Secretary of The Manchester City Football Club Supporters Club), I managed to organise a trip to Barcelona to watch City’s 1-0 friendly win at the Nou Camp last August against the European champions. After that match, a number of my friends were convinced City had the attributes to go places.

‘Stephen Ireland and Vlad Weiss particularly impressed and when I had mentioned that despite the heavy money spent by City, no less than 5 players on display were Academy players, they were suitably impressed. Garrido, Petrov, Tevez, Robinho and especially Zabaleta (from his Espanyol days), are all known here and have helped promote the club.’

VMC are considering the possibility of holding our first Tribal Gathering in Manchester in 2010 as our worldwide online community expands. Eddie Continues:

‘The supporters club or Penya, as they are known in Spain is called ‘Penya – El Forn’ (The Oven) as the pub, my pub, gets very hot in summer.

‘We are looking to get to at least one match this season and hopefully we could tie this in with the proposed VMC get together. It would be great for them to meet fellow Blues and have a good time in Manchester. Many of them are also interested in Manchester, due to the great historical musical traditions we have.

‘The possible meeting up with VMC this year gave me another idea.

‘I know many of the VMC community are also abroad and I figured maybe, you could join our Penya. It would be another great way of you getting the latest info from City, as I receive almost daily emails from Kevin, about things occurring at City.

‘Also, it would boost our numbers and you have a ready made contact on this board, for our activities. One being planned is the 1st open golf tournament.

‘Hosted by L’Ampolla’s prestigious ‘pitch and putt’ course, with the obligatory ‘City match dinner’ in the evening, followed by a tremendous booze up, that will last until 6-7 the following morning. More importantly, it is another avenue for match tickets. It’s a long way to go and be disappointed!

‘Any further info please PM (Personal Message) me via the VMC Forums and I am sure we can sort things out.’

All power to ‘The Oven!’ Who knows, ‘El Forn’ could well be recognised by the club’s ‘Heart Of The City’ campaign later this year!
