It’s difficult to find enough superlatives to describe the phenomenon that is Kun Aguero. VMCers have monitored the squad’s progress all season. Now for the results…

Looking Back On The VMC Man of The Season 2011-2012:

This past season VMC ran our Man of The Season contest using a Formula One style points system run by PhillyBlueMoon Productions replacing the accumulated polls won result used at the end of the previous four seasons to define our Maine Man. This way we were able to get greater accuracy over who was regularly putting in a shift for the City cause.

23 years old and with the world at his dancing feet, this powerful Romario-esque striker has got it all. Kun has been a City player for all of 10 months this time next week. During that time he has hit a sensational 30 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions.

At City and Atletico combined, the young Argentine has scored a stunning 113 goals in 247 League and Cup appearances in 6 seasons. He averages 0.46 goals per game.

What a snip the £38 million The Champions paid Atletico Madrid to secure his services looks now.

How fitting that he should blast the ultimate winner last Sunday!

Elsewhere in our Top Ten, Merlin Silva’s efforts despite carrying an ankle knock for most of the season saw him again constantly coming in for praise and so did third placed Samir Nasri. There has been a tsunami of media nonsense over Le Petit Prince de Marseille’s alleged poor performances this season. Well, the hundreds of fan votes he picked up in our City Chat Forum this past season tell a very different story.

Yet were it not for the Cup of African Nations, both players would have surely been overhauled by the rampaging Yaya Touré.

England men Gareth Barry and Jimmy Milner had superb seasons in the engine room which bode well ahead of joining Roy Hodgson’s damp squib squad next week.

Then we have more recognition for the trio of young strikers who carefully brought on by Roberto Mancini’s expert forward knowledge helped keep City top of the league for 7 months until that late dip in form. Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli racked up some crucial goals amid The Blues 127 in all competitions.

Finally, and by no means least, our one defender in the top ten is Vincent Kompany. Let’s just say his name and leave it at that!
