The Wait Is Over

It is with great pleasure today for most City fans that Richard has put pen to paper on a four year deal and ended all speculation that his future might lie elsewhere this season.

I do not think we can overlook the Hughes factor in all of this. His first statements being that he wanted to sort the contract between City and Richard out as soon as possible.

Hearing that, Richard could only feel wanted by the club and for the ability to work under one of the brightest young managers in the game was surely an equally strong draw to sign on the dotted line.

Richard knew this would probably be the last contract he signs whilst in a real position of strength as he is at the peak of his game and in three or four years time; clubs will only be looking to sign two year deals due to his plus thirty age. So he had to make the right choice for him.

Clearly wearing our blue tinted glasses we are going to say that staying at City was the right one; but I think that after last season’s evolution and now this summer’s revolution only a moron could not see that we are about to enter some very exciting times at City in the coming seasons.
