Here we go then, Blues. Time is increasingly tight. There are now 42 days until Manchester City take the field at Upton Park.

There is a strong possibility that once Frank Shinawatra realises 75% ownership of the club and the new manager is officially confirmed, then for City, a previously unprecedented amount of squad rebuilding could take place throughout July.

According to a wide variety of sources, Sven Goran-Eriksson is the City manager elect and it is rumoured that he has already started to plan for the new season.

So bring it on. An opportunity to talk football at last. If you have just browsed across this website Sven, I’ve drawn up a reasonable-ish list of potential and media linked transfer targets of whom I’d hope we could secure the signatures of certainly four of five with the right backing. There are also a few big wages that we could do with offloading before the squad strengthening can begin.

RELEASE/TRANSFER LIST
Didi Hamman, Paul Dickov, Ousmane Dabo and Bernardo Corradi.

GOALKEEPER
Unless City lose a ‘keeper in the next few weeks I see no reason to move for any new shot stoppers as the money could be used elsewhere to urgently strengthen the squad.

DEFENCE
Daniel Van Buyten, Bayern Munich
– Impressed many of us except for the management team and the City board during his all too brief time at Eastlands. Has since become Bayern’s captain and a Champions League regular.

Mario Yepes, Paris St Germain
– PSG’s experienced Colombian skipper and alledgedly the best paid player in Ligue 1.

MIDFIELD/WINGERS
Samir Nasri, Olympique Marseille
– Creative midfielder once touted for a loan move to City. Destined for big things having now broken through into the French senior side.

Shunsuke Nakamura, Glasgow Celtic
– The Scottish PFA Player of the year with dynamite in his boots. Deadlier set pieces than a Joey Barton right hook. Alledgedly.

Ludovic Giuly, Barcelona
– Heavily linked with a return to Monaco, but would have the ability to create a Berkovic/Benarbia effect upon our squad.
His experience can unlock defences.

Gennarro Gattuso, Milan AC – We need a Barton replacement and this guy would be 110% better all round than the deluded Newcastle powder keg.

Kevin Nolan, Bolton PieTasters
– An uncompromising leader of men who’s signing would certainly get the backing of the Blue Army.

Simone Perrotta – AS Roma
– Ashton born Italian international with a big engine. The type of holding player we have been missing.

Juninho, Olympique Lyon
– The Brazilian playmaker looks like committing to OL but could certainly make things happen at City.

Pascal Feindouno – Saint Etienne
– Creative midfielder who can play centre and wide right. Increasingly sought after. Would be a real asset and a crowd pleaser at MCFC.

Albert Riera, Espanyol
– Was on fire last season. Brilliant in the UEFA Cup Final. The sacked Touchline Jester could not see the potential that so many of us could.

Nigel Reo-Coker, West Ham United
– The transfer requesting former England Under 21 skipper could well be holding out for a big club move. Whether he sees City in that equation is another matter.

Shaun Wright-Phillips, Chelski Bench
– A sad story all told. The move south was wrong in all directions and his advisors have already made it clear there will be no return to MCFC under SGE, even though his re-signing would lift the whole club.

ATTACK
Francesco Totti, AS Roma
– If daft money becomes available then barrel it on the 30 yr old superstar who can link midfield and attack with ease. But would he leave Rome for M11…?!

Eidur Gudjohnsen, Barcelona
– Proven striker with the Premier League experience our squad could benefit from.

Frédéric Piquionné, AS Monaco
– Former Saint Etienne target man with terrific potential who could be an ideal foil for Emile Mpenza.

Nicolas Anelka, Bolton PieTasters
– Well, the striker with one of the best goals per game records at Manchester City has been in terrific form for France but he is alledgedly getting cold feet yet again at his current club. I say no go when I consider his pre City departure bench sulk and subsequent ‘need a big club’ comments.

David Nugent, Preston North End
– Repeatedly linked with a move to City but looks like he will be joining Royston Vasey Keane at the Mackems.

Michael Owen, Newcastle United
-Questionable injury record would be the greatest concern for any serious outlay but he’d easily have outpaced all but Mpenza up front last season.

Blues, do you have any top transfer tips for SGE? One thing’s for sure he has one hell of a job on!
