Time for a boycott?

‘That’s it – I’ve had it.’ The words of a friend of mine, a City season ticket holder for 13 years. He called me ten minutes ago. ‘I can’t believe we’ve sold Fowler,’ he yelled down the phone. ‘We’re ending the transfer window with fewer strikers than we started it with.’

If the board don’t put their hands in their pockets and buy two new strikers and a midfielder by Tuesday [the end of the transfer window] I’m boycotting Eastlands. I just can’t bear our complete lack of ambition.’

He paused for breath but he wasn’t finished.

They let Fowler go because they didn’t want to pay Leeds another tranche of the transfer money. What does that say about lack of ambition!? I’ve had enough. I’m voting with my feet.’

He then hung up after claiming he was going to get, in his words, ‘sh**faced’. Phew. Is he going over the top or does he have a point?
