Time To Get Aggressive

There’s an undercurrent along Ashton new Road suggesting the bidding and buying wars for this summer’s transfer market have got off to an early start with behind the scenes movements being made well before the opening of the window.

City need to act fast and first and not rest on their laurels like last summer. We are going to have be aggressive, dominant and forceful if we are to get anywhere with the players we need.

Of course The Stretfords always have to have their little dig and get their two pennies worth in by instigating rumours regarding Falcao going to the dark side. Hopefully we will hear some sort of an announcement not long after the end of the season regarding our first capture and this in itself will send out signals to the rags that we intend to fight back and fight hard. Painful as their unchecked stroll this season has been, the days of them dominating the league are hopefully going to be a thing of the past. It’s all about future and NOT history nowadays.

All the signings Roberto Mancini wanted but didn’t get last season made the City boss very critical of the club’s transfer policy in 2012 and understandably so. Lets hope this time around his ‘wish list’ will be granted in readiness for pre-season training.

Director of Football Txiki Begiristain has hopefully started to direct things his way in the transfer market and he seems to have a dominant presence about him when it comes to securing bargains. Already, he has been in negotiations in London this month with ‘super agent’ Mino Raiola.

It’s time to ship out the under achievers in our squad…out with the old and in with the new. At VMC we have been monitoring player availability throughout this season. This is promising to be a very, very interesting summer transfer indeed and this correspondent cannot wait to see who we are going to shock the nation with. Rest assured we will. The stakes are high and the club is on a sound footing.

Mario Gotze was on that list but it seems that he has been snapped up by the one and only Bayern Munich who are after running around making big money signings after slating City and PSG previously.

So there you have it. Let’s hope that this time Mancio gets a couple if not all of his targets. He will not be too happy if we fail to act again.

Finally, moving on to kind words last week from West Ham gaffer Sam Allardyce. He reckons City, will have had a bloody good season if we pick up the FA Cup and remain second in the league. I agree. Here’s to securing the silverware and coming away this season with another trophy instead of the disappointment at losing the title which we fought so hard to win and sadly let slip away. Basically, we were not ready for the fight that retaining it would entail but I’m certain we will be fired up next season.

TWO TO WATCH:

Sam Bryce, 19 years old, Leeds United
By all accounts this lad seems to be an extremely versatile player and can pretty much comfortably cover all areas of midfield. Sam can be a little bit of a bugger when it comes to yellow cards but in his defence he is only young and will in time learn to be more disciplined. Everton’s David Moyes has copped a look at Sam himself and wants a piece of the action. At a reasonable price of £10 million he is a bargain. We are going to have go into battle with Moyes over him though as he seems to think he is going to be a perfect replacement for Phil Neville.

Luciano Vietto, 19 years old, Racing Club.
This young Argentine striker will be a popular name in the future.

Highly rated and very much in the Messi mould to a degree. Very poised, very much like Silva in his physique, confident, balanced, can dance with the ball much to the frustration of the opposition…actually quite stunning on the ball. 8 goals in 27 appearances for Racing Club in the Argentine Primera.

Of course, Vietto may not wish to leave his current club and if he does I guess he will most likely go over to La Liga or Serie A but for City to keep tabs on him at a tender age is not such a bad idea. If Tevez leaves in 2014…one cant help but wonder. These Argentinians are fighters. We need young and eager legs. Vietto wouldn’t be a bad place to start.
