The 18-year-old has progressed from the U18s and broke into the U23s this season, but he’s not commanding a starting place and may not be progressing at the required level to forge a long-term future at the Etihad Stadium.

Sobowale, who is described by City as a ‘brave and committed defender’, joined the Sky Blues from Irish outfit Villa FC in 2018 and gone on to make 21 appearances for the U18s and one for the U23s.

He’s yet to make a single Premier League 2 appearance in 2020/21 and hasn’t made the matchday squad since September, so it’s hard to see Sobowale staying in Manchester beyond 2021.

Real Salt Lake are bottom of the Western Conference with 18 points from 19 games, having conceding 33 goals for their troubles, so they could benefit from one or two defensive recruits. Whether Sobowale could make an instant impact remains to be seen, however.
