Every Manchester City fan will know that the Blues are to face Faroe Islands EB/Streymur in the UEFA Cup first qualifying round, however how many of you knew this?

Language: Faroese is the national language and is rooted in Old Norse, or Viking.

Sport: Football plays second fiddle to rowing, whaling and the bi-annual Island Games. The annual rowing competition takes place in Tórshavn harbour, while the Island Games features such sports as judo, volleyball and archery.

Food: Wind-dried mutton, whale blubber and puffins are the local delicacy.

Drink: Weak lager but watch out for the Danish spirit Aalborg Akvavit which is both popular and potent.

Music: Local bands include Týr, Gestir, Boys In A Band and 200.
