Transfer ‘ruled out’ by club, Man City ‘discussing’ loan – 24 y/o could be on his way out

Internacional are in talks with Manchester City over Nahuel Bustos and Globo Esporte (h/t Sport Witness) say they’re keen to get a deal over the line before Saturday so they can register him in their squad for the Copa Sudamericana quarter-finals.

Zero Hora say City would prefer to sell the 24-year-old permanently as he isn’t in Pep Guardiola’s plans, but Internacional don’t appear to have the money. The Sky Blues paid £5.8m for Bustos two years ago and want as much of that money back as possible, but Internacional would prefer a loan deal.

The Brazilian club have ‘ruled out’ a transfer and are ‘discussing’ a temporary move, but a buying clause at the end of the deal could be what gets City to accept.

Bustos was loaned out to Girona for two seasons after signing for the Sky Blues and only scored 15 goals with five assists from 82 games, so he’s not done enough to convince Guardiola that he’s worth keeping.

City have the Argentine contracted until 2025, so they aren’t in any rush to offload him for cheap. If a suitor won’t buy Bustos, they could loan him out to another City Football Group club.
