Typical City?

A case of ‘after the Lord Mayor’s show’ was evident at the Reebok yesterday afternoon. For subscribers to the ‘typical City’ effect this result was as predictable as any can be throughout the season. Each time City manage to wipe away the challenge of the rags, the game that follows is usually one of such startling ineptitude it is hard to believe what went before. Bolton was a case in point.

To be fair to the Wanderers, this was one of their ‘easier on the eye’ type performances and their victory was fully earned. After an uncompromising opening half hour Bolton took full control of the game. That they never relinquished control from that point on should give everyone at City just cause for concern as the transfer window draws to a close.

The game was decided in 4 first half minutes with first Borgetti, and then Nolan, netting after poor City defending. Nolan’s goal came from a horrendous Dunne mistake, suggesting that he was perhaps rushed back a little to early.

City huffed in an attempt to get back into the game but rarely threatend the Bolton goal. On a positive note, Sinclair again looked impressive …. it’s just a shame the rest didn’t.

Manager Rating
Psycho isn’t getting enough, consistently, out of this group of players. I’m sure it’s frustrating him as much as the supporters. However it really must be in his interests to get a couple of players in before the deadline, otherwise the season will drift away to nothingness.

Opponent Rating
Bolton showed that they can play on occassions. That said they are still little more than a team of bullies. That they are the benchmark for European football in this division is more indicitaive of the standards of the rest rather than Bolton.
