Un-Typical City

Vital Manchester City member, italia7482 sent us the following.

I will be the first to say that losing to the Reds was hard for me to take (as it always is whenever we lose).

However, there is a big difference this year. We seem to have finally found some fight!! How many times last year did we watch all forlorn as our City subjected us to defeats from the jaws of victory. How many games did we contrive to lose by our own devices as opposed to the opposition pushing us hard.

I’m sure you all know the answer to that one, but this year there is a feeling, and even a die hard Hughes hater couldn’t deny signs on the pitch that we aren’t simply willing to let it go this year. Yes we lost to the Rags BUT we fought back to equalise three times.

Their defence made mistakes its true, but aren’t a large amount of goals made by someone making a mistake? I’m proud to be a Manchester City fan, I always have been despite the derision, despite the sly comments.

But listen to those comments now. No one derides us for being a rubbish team anymore. Now its about the money, or about buying players for exaggerated / inflated prices, or for daring to think that we could be a team that challenges over a period of time, and one day (hopefully soon) we WILL win something.

You could practically hear the sighs of relief from those that dislike us when Arsenal’s first goal went in, a collective ‘that’s it City are finished and are going to be taught a lesson’ could be heard ringing from many mouths. And yet the team stood up and fought like warriors. I don’t use the word lightly, but we DESTROYED an Arsenal team I might add very much in form.

This is why there was so much rubbish spouted about Ade and our ‘discipline problems’ (despite what he did or didn’t do depending upon your point of view). You cant really blame them – they were all in shock because the City of old would have rolled over and died that day, but we didn’t did we??

I’m Blue till I die, I wouldn’t have it any other way. However I’d like to say to everyone connected to the club, fans, players and backroom staff alike, from the Sheikh to the boot polishing boy…

..thank you for making my club, and our City something to finally be proud of – other than being lucky enough to be born a true Blue.
