It has been confirmed that Patrick Vieira has been charged with violent conduct by the FA following an incident with Stoke City’s Glenn Whelan on Tuesday.

Referee Alan Wiley reportedly missed the alleged incident, in which Viera lashed out at Whelen following an altercation on the pitch.

The iconic Frenchman has been given until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge, and will face a hearing on Friday.

If found guilty, the midfielder could face a three-match ban, ruling him out against the crucial home game against Liverpool and tough away trips to Stoke and Chelsea respectively.
