Vieira: Believe

City midfielder Patrick Vieira is unruffled neither by the recent media attacks upon Manchester City nor the team’s two consecutive league defeats…

The vastly experienced French World Cup Winner has called on his colleagues to believe in themselves and the City cause:

‘…the only way we can win is by being altogether and we understand that. It’s a difficult period because from the outside.
Everybody is trying to create this negativity around the football club. That happened when I was at Arsenal and Inter Milan…what’s really important now is that as a football club and a team, we are really strong together, believe in ourselves and go out and win games because by winning games, we will keep peace.’

The 34 year old, in contention for a starting role against Lech Poznan tonight also had this to the say about some of the hysterical reaction we’ve seen over Vincent Kompany and Emmanuel Adebayor’s on field row against Wolves:

‘Whether it’s Arsenal, Juventus or France, of course players argue, that’s part of the game. I don’t know any big football club where they don’t have character in the dressing room. Character makes you win. Character makes you go forward. All this stuff we’ve seen and heard over the last few days about City, I think it’s something positive because it will make us improve.

‘…It will make us win trophies and it’s good that it’s happening at the moment.’
