City midfielder and French legend Paddy Vieira has been there, seen it done it at the highest level. With customary calm, he addresses the State of the Blue Nation…

In a level headed interview with The MUEN, Vieira bit back at the desperate critics who’s new get City angle is watching the bench to see who isn’t smiling, then claiming a revolt:

‘When you look at the Chelsea bench they also have a good team on the sidelines. But if you want to go from the start to the end you need everyone, and for everyone to be fully committed…Anything can happen in the first few months. Eleven players will start the first few games, but there are so many games to play, in so many competitions.’

Vieira is absolutely right. If all goes to plan, The Citizens will clear 70 games easily this season. He goes on to confirm that this isn’t the rocket science soem hacks might have you believe:

‘The team which starts will not be the team that finishes the season, so everyone has to get focused. It will bring some frustration, because quality players do not like to be on the bench. But at a club like City which is ambitious, you have to accept it, and what we can do is put the manager in a difficult position when he picks the eleven who will start.’

In something of a rallying cry, Paddy concludes by calling for commitment.

‘We have the experience…The new signings are internationals and we have quality in every single part of the team. If we keep our feet on the ground and everyone gives 100 per cent commitment to the club, it will be a really good season…This is the strongest side City have had in the last few years.’

Yet another interview with Vieira that breaks the mould of superstar players droaning on about themselves rather than their clubs ambitions.
