If reports are to be believed then Aston Villa could be lumbered with Manchester City’s out of favour Wayne Bridge.

Bridge (30) has struggled to cement his place in Mancini’s starting eleven this season, hence the numerous rumours circulating around for a while now that the former England full-back has had his day at Eastlands.

And now we have Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier confirming his interest in taking Bridge on loan until the end of the season.

Dead-man walking Houllier said…

‘There has been dialogue (regarding Bridge). It is true we have been talking to them.’

On a personal note Bridge has done nothing wrong over the last two years and thank him for his services; however I will be sorry to see him playing in the Championship next season should the loan deal materialise into a full blown transfer.

Bridge left Stamford Bridge in January 2009 after then Blues boss Mark Hughes paid Chelsea an estimated £10 million.
