THAI UPDATE/DOWNDATE

Well, the ‘Thaksin Factor’ just isn’t going to go away is it and we can expect more high’s and low’s in rumours and speculation surrounding Manchester City’s image as we head into autumn. But factually, it’s been kicking off in Thailand from what I can see and royalist crowds have been going after Frank’s mates who are in power. That aside, the effect of upcoming developments upon City should become clearer in a matter of weeks. There is every chance that our London asylum seeking owner will be found guilty in his absence. Secondly, he could well end up losing all his frozen assets. The possibility of extradition and measures taken by the pisspoor Football Association remain on the agenda. As City fans, we will of course be prepared as ever to expect the unexpected…

LOANS – DO NOT PASS GO…

Garry Cook, City’s Executive Chairman who has hinted at being seriously out of touch with the club’s support in a couple of disturbing interviews, has already admitted that City’s hierarchy have taken out loans to fund this summer’s transfer activity. However, suggestions that ex Chairman John Wardle has loaned the club money continue to surface.

According to City fan David Conn at the Guardian, ‘sources’ close to Wardle have revealed that he loaned City ‘£2m on three separate occasions in the past year. Wardle is understood also to have provided the club with two other loans last season. All of the loans are understood to have been repaid…’

…and up pops another ‘City Spokesman’ to ‘reassure’ us again…’Short-term loans are common in football, as we have a very obliging director in John Wardle, the loan was made by him, and it was repaid in two days. It was never needed to pay wages.’

Mark Hughes and his squad need stability above them and one calm, non sensationalist clear voice regarding the club’s finance and future is essential. We’ve yet to hear it this summer.

Furthermore, the ‘fifth colum’ stirring sh*t from within the club needs rooting out.

PLAYERS IN THE NEWS WITH THE BLUES:

RONLARDO

Garry Cook’s very public ‘search for a superstar’ continues. The hacks relentlessly link the hopelessly out of shape and out of club Ronaldo with us. Quite where the tranvestite wrestling has been would fit into Hughes young side is beyond me. Take a look at the latest inaction shots of said ‘superstar’ courtesy of the Murdoch family…what do you reckon?

SHAUN WRIGHT-PHILLIPS – DON’T GO BACK?

One of the worst cases of splintered backside to be seen in London for many years, the former City Academy starlet continues to pay the price for chasing the Russian Ruble to Stamford Bridge under bad, bad advice.

77% of our Vital MC-ers polled are ready to forgive and forget and bring the player back to an adoring Eastlands public. But…

SWP’s agent is alledged to have said today regarding a move to City or Everton that: ‘He doesn’t want to join either of them and we are now discussing the next move to see what we do. Because of all the problems there [City] and the uncertainty surrounding the place, he is unsure.’
Hmm. If that’s the case, then it’s either a cop out for financial reasons or a realisation that the ‘Thaksin Factor’ is kicking in as widely feared. We will know for sure what SWP’s future is likely to be and where his ambitions and loyalties lie inside 5 days time.

CRAIG BELLAMY – NO THANKS!

Now we’re not even going to bother polling Blues with regard to this nasty little get. Voices across Planet Blue are totally unanimous in their condemnation of any move for the poorman’s Welsh Paul Dickov. So that’s that settled then…

LISTEN UP ROUND UP

The replica kit money making machine keeps on turning. City`s new ‘blaze orange’ third kit can be pre-ordered now for delivery in September. I thought the toyed with yellow we first wore at Arsenal all those years ago where the team ran out, didn’t recognise each other and got tonked 4-0 was bad enough but that orange is frighteningly Luton ’83….

NEXT OPPONENTS:

Johnny On The Spot?:

Midtjylland followed up their stunning first leg victory at Eastlands by getting stuffed 3-1 in the Danish Super League by FC København on the 17th August and as I understand it, have not played since. In the meantime, City have played two Premier League games and scored 5 goals in the process. City are looking fitter and stronger with every game and I reckon Midtjylland could be in for a backlash in the win at all costs fixture. City will be without Vincent Kompany who is ineligible for the Qualifying Rounds but I expect us to win and win well. 3-0.

NEXT OPPONENTS BUT ONE:

SUNDERLAND at The Stadium of Light.
FA Premier League: Sunday 31st August, 1500 GMT

City Form:
Last six PL games: W,L,L,L,L,W
Mackems Form:

Johnny On The Spot?:

Royston Vasey Keane and Quinny have certainly been busy in the transfer market offloading a similar number of players as City did and have to date recruited no less than 8 new signings. Both sides will be looking to build on morale boosting wins in their last league outings but I sense City will have the edge in attack. Much will depend of course morale wise in how we fair in Denmark. But we need another league win as we prepare to welcome Chelski on 13th September.

I’m going for a hard fought 1-2 victory for City.

Vital MC hopes to bring you a seven questions interview with Vital Sunderland before this weekend’s game.
