Vital MC Man Of The Match Awards: The rags

It’s been a long time coming this season. The Vital MC Massive has voted City skipper Richard Dunne as our MOTM in The Blues’ disappointing derby effort…

There is a school of thought out there which includes myself that the big hearted Irishman’s City career may be drawing to a close. In truth, he’s had a poor season and has been found wanting on a number of occasions. Dunney would be the first to admit that fact.

But his diehard efforts at The Swamp alongside the increasingly influential future City captain Nedum Onuoha ensured City’s goal difference remains the strongest of the remaining Europa League contenders.

Richard Dunne is an absolutely top bloke and cares deeply about Manchester City. He’s been a professional example to a B747 full of City players in turning his career around, leading from the front. He’s saved us on shedloads of occasions down the years, but in a league which now has little margin for error has shipped a number of howlers that have cost us. If the City defence is to be strengthened this season, Dunney looks to be favourite for the axe.

That said, Saturday’s rearguard action gave us a reminder of what the big man is capable of and his Blue heart.
