As FC Porto gear up to play their 26th fixture of the season and City our 39th, time for another progress check on VMC’s Man of The Season…

City and England’s Joleon Lescott has continued to grow into his role as a senior member of Roberto Mancini’s young squad. At 29 years old, Lescott is one of a handful of elder statesmen that includes Gareth Barry, Kolo Toure, David Pizzaro and Owen Hargreaves.

Playing alongside City skipper Vincent Kompany, Lescott has grown in confidence and played a key role in helping City negotiate a difficult January during the big Belgian’s absence.

He was rewarded with the crucial winning goal at Aston Villa last weekend and led the celebrations of a close knit team that showed just how much the win meant to them.

The VMC Man of The Season Format 2011-2012:

This season VMC is running our Man of The Season contest using a Formula One style points system run by PhillyCitizhun Productions replacing the accumulated polls won result used at the end of the previous four seasons to define our Maine Man. This way we are getting greater accuracy over who is regularly putting in a shift for the City cause.
