VMC Man Of The Match v The Rags

Micah Richards is powering back into form with every crunching tackle and explosive burst forward. He’s The VMC Forum’s MOTM from the cup defeat at the swamp…

Micah takes pole position ahead of ‘El Apache’ who has now amassed a superb 18 goals in 24 City starts.

It’s laughable to think that united were talking up the possibility of signing Richards a couple of summers ago before the gravity of their club’s financial shambles engulfed them and City were transformed. Unless someone comes in with a billion dollars to bail out the rags, Micah Richards will never play for the er, famous old yellow and er, green…

Last night alongside Vincent Kompany, 23, Javier Garrido, 24 and Dedryck Boyata, 18, the 21 year old powerhouse stopper formed one of the youngest back fours to have contested a Manchester Derby.

Richards, Boyata and Kompany have come in for immensely justifiable praise this month and last night was no exception. The young Blues just could not clear their lines when it mattered resulting in only City’s 4th defeat in 29 games this season.

MCFC Academy graduate Micah is viewed by many as something of a veteran with his 144 senior City appearances and already his club and international careers have hit the highs and the lows.

But right now ‘Mr. T’ is charging into form at precisely the right time. On current evidence, he is a serious contender for an England World Cup place in South Africa this summer.

He is combative, as Darren Fletcher quiverringly found out, brave, athletic and with a turn of speed and shot that seem to have gone up a gear in recent weeks.

All power to ‘The Salmon!’
