VMC Preview: Uh-Oh It’s Spuds Again

And we’re back, why does this game seem like Déjà vu? Hopefully with a happier ending than last year. First let me say and I am sure like the vast majority of City fans, Spuds are only second to the Scum on the list of my most hated teams- if you’re interested, Everton are 3rd.
Thankfully we are coming into this game in better form than last season, where we were stuttering and Spuds were flying, that said they are still a very decent team that is capable of beating the top teams (but invariably don’t).
City came unstuck against Everton as usual, but unlike usually, we for the vast majority of the game controlled it, but that doesn’t win games and we will have to show mettle in the air next Saturday where it is Stoke’s game to pump balls into the box whereas Everton do at least try and play and then resort to long ball.
As expected (By me at least) there were a few changes to the Saturday’s team, I would expect the side to change to accommodate Johnson and possibly Ballotelli, Barry will be rested as Milner has done well in the last 2 games. I was encouraged reading Mario’s interview on Saturday morning only to ruin it by losing a 10 yard start to a ball when he had come as sub.

Vital Quotes:

City Team News:

All our Injuries are clearing up, no suspensions to worry about. Please god, no one falls prey to Cup final curse (1 player gets injured/sent off before the cup final thus missing out).
Hart- Richards- Kompany- Lesccott- Kolarov- Milner- De Jong- Toure- Johnson- Silva- Dzeko

Player to watch: Adam Johnson

Terrible game last year against Essou- Ekoto- hopefully he will go better this year against Gallas or Kaboul

Spurs Team News:

Have Injury doubts about Bale, Modric, Crouch and Palacios. Although they have said, Bale is out, Modric is a major doubt, they are hopeful over the last 2 however, if Harry Redknapp told me the time I would check my watch.

Player to watch: Van Der Vaart

The man voted with the best wag, is a big game player so we will have to watch his runs from deep a la Cahill, Osman!
