Amid the ecstasy and euphoria that was unleashed at Wembley as City secured the FA Cup in style, cool cat Roberto Mancini called for a third placed league finish…

“When the Blue Moon hits your eye and the cup is in sight, YaYa TourĂ© (That’s Amore)”

THE MANAGEMENT:

Roberto Mancini:

‘We deserved to win. It was important to start to win. The Champions League was our priority and we won the FA Cup. Many times we dominated games and should have scored three or four times but lost.

‘Our supporters have had to wait for many years, but I think in one week we have changed things. We want to try to get third position if possible. We have another two games.’

Tony Pulis:

‘I have nothing but full congratulations for Manchester City – they were the better team and they deserved to win the game. It’s difficult for me to stand here and say that, but that’s the way it was.’

David Platt:

‘I don’t think Roberto ever sits there and gloats about what he has won. He has never spoken about the three titles he won on the trot at Inter. All he has spoken to me about is the first Italian Cup Inter won because he says that is what kicked them on.

‘I’ve known Roberto since he was a player and he is on a different level. His mentality is to win, to create a club who are capable of winning trophies. He enjoys that more than doing it with a club who are already successful…He is charismatic. His winning drive and mentality is obsessive.’

THE PLAYERS:

YaYa Touré:

‘We have made a small piece of history. The dream is now real. We wanted to win something and get through to the Champions League. It’s amazing!’

Vincent Kompany:

‘Look at our fans, 35-years. I don’t think people realise, it’s unbelievable and everybody is happy and in my personal opinion this is the first hopefully of many trophies to come in the future. This is the target. We’ve laid first brick and now we can build the house on it.’

Micah Richards:

‘It’s unbelievable..! We’ll use this as a stepping stone for what we’er trying to do.’

Joe Hart:

‘I couldn`t care less what they do at Old Trafford, it’s nothing to do with Man United today, it’s all about Man City and these fans, players and staff. We deserved to win the cup, we beat the best, we beat a very good Stoke City side. I know we’re brilliant, a bit more consistency next season and you never know.’

Mari Balotelli:

‘My season was s***, was not very good, today maybe I play more for the team…I’m happy, I said to the guys before the game that we are better than them but we have to respect them because they are a team. But you have to give everything and if we give everything we will win.’

Nigel De Jong:

‘The feeling is unreal. We worked so hard this year to win a trophy and to win the FA Cup, that’s just the end of a beautiful year and not only for the team but also for all the fans, they’ve been waiting for 35 years but to come out like this, I think the city will be blue for a very long time!’

The VMCer’s:

AD Tilson:

‘I’m back home from Wembley full of the joys of spring and nobody or anything will wipe the smile off my face! Get in there!!!’

Hosko:

‘Has there been a better week for City fans ever?’

citizhun:

‘Nearly took my eye out with the champagne cork!’

Thai Blue Fan:

‘Words can’t express my feelings this morning.’

Philly Blue Moon:

‘What a game, what a season. So proud of this team.’

Buzz Lightyear:

‘The Monkey is off the back,Once you get that first one I am sure more will come along!’

Fifthcolumnblue:

‘Super Mario today. Match-winning performance all game, and didn’t bat an eyelid when the officials ignored Huth’s elbow. The lad is class, and I hope this is the last we hear of the doubters. Mancini bought him because he can play like he did today. Expect a lot more of that!’

Potwash:

‘Loved the ’00 years’ banner the players carried around the pitch – quality :)’

robinwho?:

‘RM – his tactics and attitude to this game all week kept the players focussed on the job in hand. Well done RM!’

GaryCooksNapkin:

‘So proud, I’ve waited 35 years to see this day!’
