The fortnight rot has stopped. Post Match Reaction to City’s crucial win at West Brom from The Hawthorns movers and shakers and the VMC Forum history makers…

Roberto Mancini:

‘It is normal when you’ve lost two or three that the atmosphere is not good, but it’s important we continue to work. Sometimes you lose when you don’t deserve to lose. We lost in Poland and it was incredible that we did with how the game ended. Arsenal was an incredible red card and we lost the game. At Wolves, we had five chances to score in the first half-an-hour and lost. In the end we got what we want with a great win here. It was a great day and I think the players gave a fantastic performance and played some excellent football.’

It’s true it took balls and resilience for City to be the first team to win at West Brom in 10 months. Mancio singled out City’s travelling supporters for special praise and walked across the pitch to thank them for their relentless support of him throughout the game:

‘I’m also very happy with the fans, I must say thank you to them. Their support is always there for the team. It’s very important.’

The City boss revealed that The Blues will most likely make an appeal to the FA over Mario Balotelli’s red card. The rags made a successful bid last January in order that Rio Ferdinand could face City in the League Cup Semi-final in similar circumstances:

‘I don’t agree with the referee’s decision to send him off at all – it was not a red card in my opinion and we will now consider whether we should appeal the decision.’

Roberto Di Matteo:

‘It’s fair to say they were very good. We must give them credit. We tried to press them but they move the ball around very quickly. They have some real quality players…In the second half we tried to get closer to them…City are definite title challengers. I said before that you can’t have the amount of quality they have and not challenge.’

Kolo Toure:

‘It was really important we beat West Brom because it’s very difficult for a team with aspirations of challenging at the top to lose three games in a row. This win has made us very happy and put us in the perfect frame of mind ahead of Wednesday’s derby.’

pacific ocean blue:

‘The Rags will be loving this weekend with Chelsea, Arse and Spuds all losing but our win will just take take the gloss off of it…The landscape at the top changes every week and will not settle until the New Year when the strong go on a run of positive results due to a strong squad and the inadequacies of others…We must ensure that we’re equipped with a deep, loyal squad of guys ready to run through a wall for us. We have only January to make sure that the right guys are here.’

Potwash:

‘…only saw it from the stands but to me it just looked like a tangle of legs, nothing malicious – looking forward to seeing it again to judge it properly…but we need him for the derby, so I guess that’s the tactic whether or not we win the appeal.’

fifth column blue:

‘Not only that, but the Baggie’s player clutches his face when clearly there was no contact – a definite case of the ref falling for over-simultation…Hopefully the ref’s report will say he thought Balotelli made contact with Mulumba’s face and the card will be rescinded.’

Blue Dub:

‘There were a number of great performances today…I was glad to see Yaya and Barry getting their act together and putting in very good shifts. I also thought Boateng had his best performance yet.’

Bama Engineer:

‘Super Mario! Pure entertainment in more ways than one! lol’

toolo-1:

‘Silva is almost unplayable from the point he cannot easily be picked up and his picking of passes is superb!’
