Post Match Reaction to City’s solid 0-2 win in Pie Land from The David Whelan stadium movers and shakers and the VMC Forum history makers…

Roberto Mancini:

‘We played a good game. It wasn’t easy because Wigan played very well and aggressively.’

The wet conditions and garbage playing surface added to that threat:

‘The pitch was very hard and difficult to play on. The first goal was very important for us…against Sunderland and Blackburn we had chances to score goals, so when Tevez scored, it obviously changed the game.’

City have now conceded only 2 goals in 8 games across all competitions this season to Mancio’s clear satisfaction:

‘We never took any risks and never gave away any chances at the back, which I was very pleased about. We played better in the second half than the first.’

Next up in the Premier League next Saturday is a titanic clash with Chelsea whom the Blues doubled last season. Outside of Blackpool, the Londoners have only faced bottom half sides and The Citizens will obviously be their first real test:

‘It will be a difficult game against Chelsea…but we have a Carling Cup game coming up in midweek, so to play every three days is not easy.’

Roberto Martinez:

Martinez was clearly upset as his side, boasting no English players were dominated:

‘We created Manchester City’s best chances and that is very disappointing. In any performance the hardest thing should be to concede a goal.’

Many football fans remain stunned that Martinez still holds on to his job:

‘At the moment from time to time we come out with this softness in our defensive play which really lets ourselves down…In defence we showed a lack of intensity. We are giving ourselves a mountain to climb to get points from games and that is what is so disappointing.’

Citizhun:

‘Excellent result today. They say good teams win when they don’t play well. Another clean sheet, Carlito back on the score sheet and up to 4th spot.’

PhillyBlueMoon:

‘Great finish by the boys in blue (or white, today) and a good three points that were well won. 3 points that we’ve never taken from the stadium.’

Blue ponderer:

‘Hope we knock Chelsea off their perch – who knows, maybe after their run of easy game they’ll think coming to eastlands will be a pice of cake? although I doubt it after we thrashed them twice last year, I think they’ll want revenge!’
