Roberto Mancini:

‘This was an important game. If we had won or got a draw it would have been fantastic…we’ve got eight games to the end.

‘We played three days ago against Kyiv with ten men, and in the last 20 or 25 minutes we were tired. Maybe we can train better because we don’t have the Europa League.

‘We were ready to make changes when we conceded the goal. Until 70 minutes Chelsea had more of the possession but we didn’t concede anything. After the goal, it changed.’

David Platt:

‘Chelsea kept coming back at us, we didn’t really get them off us, but to concede a goal with a set piece is disappointing and with the second goal Ramires got in there too easy…In the first 10 minutes we took the game to them a little bit more but then they started to control the game.’

‘Chelsea have come out of their bad period, they’re in their golden period at the moment and are winning games again.’

Carlo Ancelotti:

‘We wanted to win but it was not easy to find a solution in the final third in the first-half.

‘We have nine games to play and we have to try our best. Manchester United won yesterday, so the gap is the same, but the most important thing for us is to be in focus, game-by-game. There will be an international break…but when the players come back I want to see the same spirit and the same attitude. It is important to use all the players in this moment. If we want to win eight or nine games, we must use all the players. The most important thing is all the players are fit and have good motivation.’

The VMCers:

Buzz Lightyear:

‘Vinnie worked hard and defended superbly, but if you have a boss that plays tactics like that then you will suffer. Had it not been for VK and NDJ it may have been double figures.’

Hosko:

‘Who was worse Kolarov or Mancini? …Mancini was completely outmatched and confused on what his plan was today. If he wants to squeak a 0-0 draw why did Kolarov play 90 minutes? Bring on Boyata or Boateng because both defend better and our superior in the air. Yaya was in limbo in the middle of the field all day. Should I attack, should I defend. He choose neither. Maybe I am being too tough on Mancini but I do not think he did a single thing today to help this team get some value from this game.’

JJ Manc Girl:

‘Kolorov & Yaya were hopeless. Forget Mancini’s tactics, we kept giving the ball away when in good positions.’

Blue Billy:

‘De Jong, undoubtedly the best holding midfielder in the world. Thought that Lescott, Barry, Kompany, Silva and Milner all played well. Toure continues to infuriate me, Kolarov is just too slow and Dzeko just isn’t there yet, but I’m sure he’ll come good.

Mario seemed hungry when he came on, obviously with a point to prove, but Mancini left it far too late to bring on the substitutions again. 10 minutes just isn’t enough time for them to have an impact. Thank God Spurs dropped points yesterday or this result could have been disastrous. We can’t keep relying on their mistakes, we should be home and dry by now.’

Blue Dub:

‘Who dares wins and Mancini didn’t dare until the horse had bolted.’

neverstops:

‘March is not good for city fans this year,we lost twice 2-0 this month.I thought our average loss per month is one, but things are changing fast – if we carry on this form then Arry is ready to take even the last qualifying spot from us.’
