Manchester City Football Club are back in the Top Three for the first time since 1977. Post Match Reaction to City’s assured win over Bolton…

Kippax Cool Cat Roberto Mancini has turned our world around in his first full season at the controls and how he must relish the progress he has made under almighty pressure.

The tough Italian has shipped out wasters and trouble makers inside 17 months and fused a hard working side who fight for the cause like no hack or pundit ever predicted:

Roberto Mancini:

‘Next year we want to improve.

‘Last year we were in fifth position, this year we are in third position and second position with Chelsea – but Chelsea scored a lot of goals.

‘It was really important to finish third… as the weeks went by, it was very difficult to get into that position but in the last two games we had this chance…not that we didn’t deserve that position because, for me, we deserved that second position.

‘We wanted that throughout the season – we wanted that moment even when we lost some games we didn’t deserve to lose. It was always in our work and we only had one month where we lost five or six players.

‘But after that we always tried to play football. Should we be going for the Premier League title next season? I think this is very important. We will.’

Owen Coyle:

‘Over the last couple of weeks we’ve known the players were running on empty. We’ve had three or four players having to play through injuries because we’ve been decimated in terms of numbers. So we know where we have to improve.

‘We’ve got more points than we did last year despite the last few results. We know we can take the club on.

‘We had numerous chances to get in front – Joe Hart made a magnificent save and a couple of shots whistled by the post – but we always accepted that Manchester City are very dangerous on the counter attack.’
