VMC’s Some Might Say: City Remain In Control

The Blues have recorded a fourth consecutive Premier League win conceding no goals along the way. Post match reaction to the win over Bolton and er, strip club rumours…

Roberto Mancini:

‘We rested one or two players today and I left out Silva, Aguero, Kolarov because we had everybody fit except Micah who was injured. Pablo had a problem and had to come off as well so now we have two injured right-backs which is a problem, but we will see how things go next week.

‘We played well and I thought Mario Balotelli had a good game although he did miss a number of chances…Kolo played very well and did a great job today because he hasn’t played for several weeks.

‘If we could win the next eleven games, we would win the title. We just need to keep playing the way we are and we will have a very good chance.’

The City boss then answered questions over an alleged early hours strip club visit made by Mario Balotelli two nights ago:

‘I only heard about this at the stadium because I never read the newspapers. Tomorrow I will speak with him. I am really disappointed about this. It is not correct, not only for me and the squad but for him, because he is a professional player. He cannot stay outside the house two days before a game until two o’clock.

‘If it is true we will do the maximum fine that we can.’

Owen Coyle:

‘In terms of tough games they don’t come any tougher than coming to Manchester City…it’s over a year now that they’ve won every game at home in the Premier League. I had to admit City made a fast start in the game, but we were prepared to come and go toe-to-toe and create our own chances, which we did in the first half.

‘We weren’t prepared to sit back and be punished. We were trying to push on and get something from the game.

‘As it transpired in the second half the second goal was hard to take for me because two or three mistakes led to it. Then there was a sublime piece of skill from Adam Johnson with a backheel. That is why these players play for an elite club like Manchester City.’

Gael Clichy:

‘I couldn’t care less who scored the goals today. We won three points with eleven games to go…But we have to be more efficient in front of goal. We can’t afford to miss the chances we had today against bigger teams.

‘We are not focused upon what united are doing. We know we have to win our games and make things happen ourselves.’

IN THE VMC FORUM:

BlueDub:

‘Could definitely do with being more clinical, but it’s nice to win comfortably. Clattenburg was awful, sorry but it has to be said.’

Buzz Lightyear:

‘5 points clear. Had we got the break at Chelsea we deserved and the blatant offside at Sunderland, we may well have been out of sight and round the corner in this season’s race for the title.’

PhillyBlueMoon:

’20 points clear of 5th with 11 games to go. I’d never have thought that this season!’
