City completed a league double over Spurs in a thrilling encounter in East Manchester. Post Match Reaction from the movers and shakers and history makers…

David Platt:

‘Roberto`s words were not loud but were profound. He was not happy at the gift of the first goal and the lack of concentration that allowed Spurs back into the game so soon after we had established the lead. He made himself clear in no uncertain terms.

‘It was an amazing game particularly the second half and a wonderful win for us. One minute we looked like losing and then next we have a penalty and win.

‘The first half was very tactical. Don’t get me wrong, this was a great win for us but the value on the day is just three points and one win does not win a title. It is still an open race.’

…on Nasri…

‘Samir will always take the ball at his feet in difficult situations and accept responsibility. Some people move to a club and hit the ground running and others take time but we have been pleased with his contribution and he took his goal well.’

…on Balotelli…

‘Until I have seen it from a few angles I wouldn`t like to comment. I didn’t see anything live but we have learned that different angles show different things. As for the penalty Mario wants to take them and is happy being at the centre of attention in the last minute. I was always confident that he would score.’

Harold Redknapp:

‘It looked like a penalty, I’ve not seen a replay – but the boy who scored the penalty shouldn’t have been on the pitch. He kicked Scott Parker in the head. He does it a lot.

He backheeled him in the face and cut his head. No-one can make excuses that he didn’t do it, anyone can see he did do it.

‘We had a great chance when Gareth laid it across to Jermain. We were all up on our seats thinking it was 3-2.

This proves we are as good as anyone. They weren’t better than us today but they nicked it in the 94th minute.

‘We had a bad two or three minutes and conceded the two goals but we showed great character to come back and I could see us winning from there.’

Mario Balotelli:

‘I was calm, like every time I take a penalty.’

James Milner:

‘It’s massive. We knew how big a game it was. They have been playing really well and they had the incentive with how we played at their place. It was an exciting game for the neutral but we’d like it a bit more boring next time!

‘We took our foot off the gas, gave them one sloppy goal. They are a good team. If you give them a sniff it gives them the momentum to go on.

‘We were well on top, we scored the two goals and probably should have controlled the game better than we did.’
