Classy City man mountain skipper and honorary Mancunian Vincent Kompany calls it like it is in the Post Match Reaction to City’s crucial win over Arsenal…

Vincent Kompany:

‘It was massive for us, we didn not underestimate the importance of this game.

“We are happy with the result and to keep a clean sheet…we could have scored many but we didn’t finish the chances we had today, although individually we won most of our challenges.’

Roberto Mancini:

‘I am pleased for the players. I am also pleased that we have beaten a very good side. Arsenal are a strong team so this was a very good day for us. We are at the top of the table as we head towards Christmas, but the most important thing is that we are there at the end of the season.

‘On Wednesday night, like Arsenal, Stoke will come here having won four Premier League games in a row, so it will be yet another hard game.’

Pablo Zabaleta:

‘It was a huge win for us…We knew it was going to hard. A good game to watch, but we needed to win today after the loss at Chelsea…but top teams never lose two games ina row…It was no problem to play at left back. I’ve done it before and I am always thinking of the team.’

Arsene Wenger:

‘It was a game that we could not afford to lose because it puts us too much behind City…At the moment we are too far behind.

‘I think it was a game that could have gone both ways. It was very intense with both teams going for it and I feel as well that we were a bit unlucky. Yet overall we had a very positive performance with great spirit and quality, but we lacked a little bit of what is vital in the big games.’

Joe Hart:

‘The Champions League and Chelsea defeat have gone. You have got to pick yourselves up and move on and we have done.’

In The VMC Forum:

Rojo 2010:

‘Great, great win. I’m so relieved.’

Buzz Lightyear:

‘Zabaleta. Anyone looking at the match again, count the number of interceptions and some brilliant play from the City favourite.’

DragonAndLance:

‘Hart was magnificent.’

citymantop:

‘Great game. Great result. Great announcement from the tannoy at the end: ‘Todays man of the match…SSaammmiiirrrrrr NNassssrrriii!!

Hear those gooners wail…’

Skoorb:

‘Massive win and just what was needed to put the hacks and nay-sayers (‘this is their first real test…’) back in their boxes.’

Cochise:

‘For me only a number stood out. Hart, Zaba, Kompany and Barry were the standouts and Aguero and Silva were solid.’

Buzz Lightyear:

‘I think everyone apart from City supporters were a bit over the top in the defeat at Chelsea, baring in mind the glaring penalty not given and then down to 10 men and the slightly dubious handball by Lescott…On our own ground teams do shut up shop…you have to credit Arsenal for having a go.’
