Post Match Reaction to City’s excellent 0-2 win in Austria from The Bullen Arena movers and shakers and the VMC Forum history makers…

Roberto Mancini:

“This is a great start to the group for us. It is always important at this stage of the competition to get a first win…I am delighted for Jo and for David, they have both worked really hard and are technically gifted players who are important to us…Juve drawing means we are in a good position, but we must play as well as we did in every game as we did tonight.”

Vincent Kompany

‘It’s a great result, knowing we have a home game next time…it could be very important for us. You want to get points early on so you can focus on the league.

‘David Silva is an amazing player – and like every foreign player he needs time to settle in the Premier League. We’ve seen in training…he’ll be very important for us at times this season.’

The commanding Belgian continues to demand and expect more from a side many Blues believe he should captain:

‘I think it was a good performance but we should have scored two or three goals in the first half…early goals settle nerves. In previous weeks we have performed well but not scored from the chances we have had.’

On the bigger picture, Vinnie remains focused upon the squad steadily getting it’s act together:

‘We definitely look like a unit already… I think in three or four months we will be even stronger than we are now.’

Spooks:

‘Easy win and a good win. Somehow Mancini managed to get Barry, Yaya, Nigel and Viera on the field at the same time. They said it couldn’t be done.’

Bluedub

‘That performance was a far cry form our last venture into Europe, I remember chewing nearly half my fingers off in that peno shoot out against FC Midgetland (or what ever they were called).’

Buzz Lightyear

‘A good workman like performance, never stretched, Jo is still crap, disappointed at the first touches in the first half, letting the ball get away from them, but as I say, hardly any worries. I wonder if Mancini will regret not adding RSC to the list, Yaya put in a few crosses he would have buried.’

Fifthcolumnblue

‘Calm, cool and collected – not a game that will live long in the memory, but a win is a win. Hats off to the ref, didn’t do too much wrrong tonight. Why can’t we have refs like that in the PL?’
