City gaffer Roberto Mancini was content with a point at Anfield but conceded that his side’s defence lends cause for concern following many Blues criticising his chosen formation…

Roberto Mancini:

‘We had three at the back and for thirty minutes we pushed Liverpool into their own half. We should have scored then and we had three or four chances to do that. I am happy with this system and sometimes we will use it. Games are always difficult at Anfield. Then we conceded a goal from their first corner and something changed…

‘We went down twice and scored two goals and because of this I think we showed good character. We drew here last year and we won the championship, so I hope we do that again.’

Brendan Rodgers:

‘I am very happy with our progress. Our attitude and application has been great. We had a one off at West Brom but apart from that we have shown great resilience and perseverance. Day in, day out, I am seeing improvements in our game and tactically they played with a terrific plan today…It is not frustrating. It is all part of the journey. I commend the players’ courage on the ball today.’

Jack Rodwell:

‘It showed great character to come back from being behind twice and Carlos scored a great goal. We have to keep grinding these points out away from home, especially at places like Anfield and we’ll just take away the positives from today.’

CITY ON TWATTER:

Pablo Zabaleta:

‘Good result today at Andfield. It was always going to be tough game. I want to wish a speedy recovery to my friend Lucas.’

Vincent Kompany:

‘Good result at Anfield against a solid Liverpool side. We move on now, next week QPR. Thanks to all the fans that came down to support us!’

Sergio Aguero, Pre Match:

‘Recovery is going great. I’m at home now ready to watch @MCFC and root for them every second. C’mon, City!!’
