Roberto Mancini:

‘I am confident. For me it is a difficult group, with Lech Poznan a good team and Juventus a good team – so it will not be easy, but I think we can go through. I think the draw was fair. In the second half we were not as good as we could have been near goal, but Juventus had a lot of players back in defence.’

The suave City boss also offered words of encouragement for Emmanuel Adebayor who returned to the starting line up against Juventus:

‘I wouldn’t say it was a frustrating night for him. The main thing is he was available today after 20 days out. I am happy with his performance but what I would like is for Emmanuel to score a goal. We need him to score goals – this is what we are working for.’

Luigi Del Neri:

‘We forced Manchester City to play badly and fully deserved the point this evening. It was a very strong Juve performance, because we never lost our desire to win right to the end and had some excellent opportunities for the victory.’

Adam Johnson:

‘I have been playing well since the start of the season with England then against Liverpool and Blackburn…it was good to get a goal at the stadium. It has been a while coming. Hopefully it will be the start of many more. It was brilliant to score against Juventus.’

Alessandro Del Piero:

‘Playing these two games first against Manchester and then against Inter is not easy. It’s a delicate moment for us, but we are happy at having got a great result at City. I would not stop here to say that we have changed, but we have played two good games. We have to find consistency as this is fundamental and we have to do it in more games.’

eighthsin:

‘I thought we performed well against a resolute Juve side. Defensively, we held firm and Vinnie and Kolo again looked the part…attacking wise, we passed the ball around a lot but didnt really penetrate. Juventus played for the draw and it was always going to be difficult. I reckon after a few months when we have everything ironed out, we will see a bit more fluidity in the final third with more moves like the one that led to the goal.’

Bluedub:

‘Should have won it, not a bad result, but it was there for the taking. In saying that though, I nearly soiled myself when Del Piero cracked that one off the crossbar.
Don’t get why Adebayor was taken off, he was providing good threat, and Tevez coming in from the right looked very dangerous. I would have swapped Barry for Silva at that stage (Barry had just been booked), and really gone for the jugular with Silva behind Adebayor.’

PhillyBlueMoon:

‘I’ll take a 1-1 finish and the point at this point. Juventus has played the typical Italian style and only counter-attacked. They defended very well, and if not for that deflection, it would be 3 points for us. Either way, I am proud of the finish, Juve has a very strong team. Still top of the group.’
