Manchester City stormed back to form in clinical fashion with a demolition of nosediving Sunderland. Post Match Reaction from those in the know and our VMCers…

Roberto Mancini:

‘We played very well…Sunderland are a strong team. It’s difficult to beat them five nil…We always play to win. We played every three days for 2 months and had a lot of players injured. But now, as we recall the players and continue like this I think we can finish the season very well.

‘When we lost Adam Johnson, we started to have problems. Adam is the only player we have who can change a game. He was very important for us today. But all our players will be important from now on. Today I rested Milner, Barry and Dzeko.

It was very important to win today. It is impossible for me to feel pressure. Our target this season was the Champions League. Everything is perfect for us right now.’

Steve Bruce:

‘Everything went wrong today. >We were beaten by a good Manchester City team on their day, I have to say that, but make no mistake we were nowhere near the level that we have got used to over the last few months. We well and truly got our backsides kicked…Everywhere I looked today we were second best.

‘We’ve played the top six in the last six weeks. We’ve got a concern up front that we don’t look like creating much and at the back wheer we have been rock solid, we’ve had too many changes.

‘So we’ve got to dig deep and pull our socks up.’

Joleon Lescott:

‘We dominated from start to finish. You cannot ask for that level of performance every week…Today we got the result as well as the performance.’

Nigel De Jong:

‘There are still seven games to go and anything can happen but this is a great confidence boost for our team. We are real contenders for the Champions League places.’

Stu MCFC:

‘Brilliant. That is all. Everyone from back to front, special performance despite how poor Sunderland also were. Mario’s big smile at the end was the iceing on the cake.’

Buzz Lightyear:

‘I thought it was a brilliant performance from City, a solid defense with not too many defensive midfielders getting in the way…Today Tevez was outstanding, his running off the ball and work rate is astounding. However, head and shoulders above everyone was Kompany. Faultless. A perfect 10.’

eighthsin:

‘Some brilliant performances. I loved how Yaya was still pissed off at Balotelli at the end for not passing to him! 5-0 and he still isn’t satisfied! LOVE it…Balotelli showed some moments of pure genius and I have no doubt that if he listens to Mancini and his team-mates, he can do great things.
Credit to Mancini for a bold starting 11 and for inspired substitutions.’

rojo2010:

‘Silva/Kompany/Nigel/The much criticised (by me) Yaya….all MOTM contenders, take your pick. For me, it’s el nino with the magic touch…Silva.’

citizhun:

‘Absolutely super performance today.’
