City have now been involved in consecutive Community Shield 3-2ers. To think this side were once widely pilloried as boring. Post Match Reaction to the exciting win over Chelsea…

Roberto Di Matteo:

‘It was difficult in the second half with 10 men…It changed the game in favour of Manchester City. We competed very well and at that point were in the lead. The challenge had no intent to hurt the opposition. It was a sliding tackle and he got the ball as well.’

Roberto Mancini:

‘With the sending-off, it was difficult to see from the bench but it is an advantage to play with an extra player. It had an impact on the game. It is impossible to say no because 11 versus 11 is different. But we played better than Chelsea, played better football.”

Learned Pundit’s View, Pat Nevin, BBC:

‘With the likes of Aguero, a fit Tevez, Silva and Yaya Toure, City have enough to waltz through the league. The question is can they do the same in Europe?’

CITY ON TWATTER:

Vincent Kompany:

‘The Community Shield is ours! Well done to the boys and thanks again for the great support!’

Pablo Zabaleta:

‘Another trophy for @MCFC! Community Shield 2012! Well done to all the players and thanks so much to the City fans for the support today!!

Samir Nasri:

‘Great start of the season with this 1st trophy , thanks to the MCFC fans once again you were amazing.’

Sergio Aguero:

‘Very happy to start the season with another title for @MCFC, and we pursue more!!’
