Another win, another clean sheet. It wasn’t scintillating by the champions high standards but crucial in the fight to retain the title. Post match reaction to the double over Fulham…

David Platt:
‘When you score after ninety seconds you think that will settle the side and you won’t have to try and open up the opposition defence over a period of time, but we didn’t really go full throttle in the first half…We defended well and restricted Fulham to very few chances, even when we were only one nil up, but you are always in danger of conceding with just a one goal lead so it was pleasing to see the second goal go in when it did.

‘Carlos worked very hard but that’s what he does. There was also plenty of others who worked hard with industry from James Milner, Gareth Barry and Javi Garcia. The whole team worked really hard, which is important. David Silva’s performances have deserved more goals than he’s got this season, that’s for sure but he’s got a couple today and could have had three.

‘Pablo’s gone over on his ankle and it’s too early to say but I’d be surprised if he wasn’t fit for Stoke next week. We haven’t a game for seven days so he has time to recover but we’ll know more in the morning….It was good to have Sergio back…we’re pleased because two weeks is a great recovery time for the sort of injury he had.’

Martin Jol:
‘In the first half they had a shot from Edin Dzeko over the bar and a shot from Carlos Tevez but that was probably it. I felt we could have done a bit more and scored the equaliser. But if you have got David Silva, he has extra quality, probably the best player in the Premier League. He was fantastic but overall I felt we did okay.’

Edin Dzeko:
‘We have to just keep doing what we’re doing…I think Manchester United will drop points sooner or later and I’ll be watching hoping Tottenham can maybe do us a favour but more importantly, we just need to keep winning and keep the pressure on them…David took his goals really well and he is disappointed he didn’t maybe get a third, but I’m really pleased for him and that the team won today…I am disappointed I didn’t score, but I think I played okay…as long as we keep winning, I’m happy.’

CITY ON TWATTER:

Vincent Kompay:
‘Not the most spectacular of all but certainly another solid performance. Respect to the fans who flew in from Belgium today! #MCFC’

Sergio Aguero:
‘It’s always good to be back and better when a victory welcomes me. @21LVA can make a nice finish, can’t he?’

Joleon Lescott:
‘What a performance by @21LVA, he is never in a rush and makes the game look so easy.’

David Silva:
Great victory again, important to keep winning, now getting treatment from @edufisiomieres to keep on top form #DS.’
