A selection of the comments we’ve picked up at VMC over what’s been going off into microphones and across keyboards since City’s capitulation at Molineux…

Roberto Mancini:

‘Last week we played fantastic football with ten men for ninety minutes, today I am sorry for our supporters…I don’t know why we stopped playing. We played really badly and I must know why. I am really disappointed and I have no explanation for this performance…We have lost ground but it is a long season and we must be tough and come back more strongly starting in Poland on Thursday. We can still have a big season but we must play better than this.’

Mick McCarthy:

‘We’ve beaten one of the top teams, we’ve played very well. We’ve earned it and we’ve deserved it and I think that result has been coming….That performance has spoken quite eloquently of me and the players.’

Kolo Toure:

‘I didn’t have my best game and Vincent would be the first to admit he didn’t play too well, either. As a unit, defensively we had our worst game of the season and the back four has to take responsibility for that. I hold my hands up and accept it was my mistake for the second goal, but we need to talk more because nobody shouted to me or communicated when I was about to head the ball.

‘The best way we can repair the damage is by going to Poznan and winning and then beat West Brom next weekend. If we can do that, our season will be back on course and it will be the perfect way to go into the derby against Manchester United, so we need to react immediately.

‘We are a team and in any team there are problems. But the important thing is to try to resolve them in the dressing room and the training camp. We need to take more responsibility. When you play for one of the richest clubs in the world, you just need to deliver on the pitch. The criticism is good because that will makes us work harder.’

Dimitri Seluk, YaYa Toure’s Agent:

‘Yaya thinks there are some players, perhaps mostly those who have been there for a long time, who think that fourth place is already a big position that it is good enough to not lose rather than to always win.’

cahill3:

‘Hated every minute of that second half, its like you just knew they were not good enough to do what they needed to do, which was score! I think we are holding them in a false position in our minds, we are just not good enough yet. Still not too late to turn things around, if they can click and push on. Time will tell.’

Pacific Ocean Blue:

‘Extremely disappointed. We really should be dominating teams like Wolves. An off day should yield at least one point. We need to roll up our sleeves and put this behind us and not lose confidence.’

Thai Blue Fan:

‘Two words for that performance – TYPICAL CITY – nothing changes.’

Bama Engineer:

‘This one stings. Two matches in a row. I have to question Bobby’s starting eleven.’

Snow Leopard:

‘Utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, tripe!’

Potwash:

‘However you look at this season, it’s been poor. I’ve been to 80% of the games this season and (Liverpool and maybe the defensive display against Chelsea aside) haven’t been impressed or entertained.

‘Do we have as many points as we should? – no. Have the performances been better than the results? – no.

‘I can honestly say that we have totally underperformed in most games this season, the notable exceptions being Chelsea & Liverpool. For long spells of the games against lower teams such as Newcastle, Blackpool & Wolves we were outplayed…I had concerns over Mancini in pre-season and I haven’t been impressed with him whatsoever at the moment.’

Fifth Column Blue:

‘…it was inevitable that after one bad result they’re all kicking lumps out of each other in the dressing room and calling for the manager to be sacked. The media want us to fail so badly that it’s almost laughable…Tin hat time, at least until we banish this result. Heaven help us if we don’t get something from both Poznan and W Brom!’

EUROPA LEAGUE ACTION ON VMC:
