Post Match Reaction from Robert Mancini at the Dan Păltinişanu Stadium and the VMC Forum history makers…

Mancio:

‘This was a difficult game because Timisoara are a good team and they played very well in the first half. In the end, it is a good result for us, but they made it difficult for us by getting so many players behind the ball.’

There was concern across Planet Blue over the knock that match winner Super Mario Balotelli took in the closing stages:

‘We think it is not serious. It was probably just a kick, but it is not a problem. He had a great debut and I think it is the first time he could show what he can do. I’m very happy that he scored…he is a good player, but it is important that he gets to know his team-mates. It was the first time he had played with the team, but he will get better.’

Mancio did have a word however for Balotelli’s firebrand edge to his game. He earned a ludicrous booking but was clearly up for having it with anybody:

‘We must work on this with him because it will be different in the Premier League than in Italy.’

GaryCooksNapkin:

…’for me this was a tactical win we’d never have pulled off without Bobby Manc at the helm.

‘Wore them down nicely, passed the ball around for fun. We looked a little short in front of goal, but were transformed when Balotelli and Johnson came on and stretched us wide.

‘WTF did Mario get booked for, that looked a harsh decision?!’

Munster:

‘Good result, decent performance; still finding ourselves and saw the shoots of greatness in Silva and Yaya in part.

‘Super Mario? Massive talent – the next Drogba, though will see red a few times I’m guessing. Hope the medical team are giving that knee a good rub!

‘Forza City! Forza Balotelli! Forza Roberto!’

Stu MCFC:

‘Apart from a poor start, we bossed the game. Really, it came down to how much we wanted to win and to be honest, we didn’t seem to want a big win, just ‘enough.’ It became so easy in the end that we were missing simple chances. Think there would have been a bit more danger from us with Kolarov and Boateng (or Micah) storming from the back. Good performance in the end though.’
