Is it too early to suggest that The Blues important win at Wigan means it’s City v the Stretfords for the title again? Post Match Reaction to a testing night in Pie Land…

Roberto Mancini:
‘We knew this game was going to be difficult. But in the end we deserved to win because we showed good patience in the game…we are not looking to sell Mario. I am very happy for him because he scored his first goal this season, and I hope he can improve on this. He is one of the four strikers, and it is clear they have had some difficulty to score lots of goals like last year, but if we keep working hard we can change that.’

Roberto Martinez:
‘From our point of view, I think we edged the game for 60 minutes. The disappointment is we couldn’t get the first goal in that period. When you are just slightly ahead of the opposition you have to score…we could have been more patient but the frustration is we couldn’t find a goal. That was the only thing missing. But I loved the attitude, effort and personality that we showed. We kept showing that desire. It was a very pleasing performance from many aspects but we are still disappointed.’

Gareth Barry:
‘We found it quite tough going in the first half, we had some stray passes but we ground it out in the second half and that’s a great three points. Credit to Wigan, we had to change things to get past them. When the game is not going our way the manager is the best tactician there is, that’s the world we live in. A lot of teams come to Wigan and don`t get results. These are vital points that have come our way.’

CITY ON TWATTER:

Vincent Kompany:
‘Great result! Another difficult game out of the way and we’re on our way home with all 3 points! Thank you guys for the great support! #MCFC’

Kun Aguero:
‘A tough match with Wigan closing all the gaps, but we managed to break through to keep undefeated and on the race.’
