City lacked a ruthless edge up front at Chelsea. If unleashed, Rafa Benitez’s horrible debut could have become a horror story. Post Match Reaction to the battle of Stamford Fridge…

Roberto Mancini:
‘Games here are always hard but we played well while missing the last pass. We were too soft when we arrived near the box…you can play well, like we did, and not win the game. We had the better chances but I think that we lost two points. We dominated the first half, but the second half was not quite like that. It was difficult for them, but we played well. Last year we lost a good game, this year we took one point. I am not happy but I prefer this.’

Rafael Benitez:
‘When fans are singing for me or against me I don not care. I want to change the perception. How will I do it? By working hard, doing my best and winning games. How many people do you need to write a banner? Maybe one and two to hold it up. I said I will concentrate on the game and will not pay attention to anything but the performances.
I have been here in England for eight years and I have heard a lot of things. They will see that I am a professional and I will try to my job to the best I can. I am sure we will win games and we will win games together.’

Vincent Kompany:
‘I was on crutches just 48 hours ago. I wanted to play for the team. I had said that I wouldn’t play if I couldn’t give everything I had on the pitch. But I am happy I was able to take part, because it was not the most comfortable game.In the end it was a draw and as a defender I am happy with a clean sheet…that is what I am going to take out of the game. Our last performance against Real Madrid wasn’t as bad as what the table shows at the moment. But this is another big game out of the way for us and we look forward to the other games and we feel that we can do enough to win a lot of games from here until the end of the season.’

CITY ON TWATTER:

Vincent Kompany:
‘We had good spells and could have gotten more out of the game. Maybe a draw is not so bad after all. Massive thank you to our fans! #MCFC’

Kun Aguero:
‘It was a tough rival and a rough field. We were missing some capacity to break through but we are still undefeated and in the race.’

Pablo Zabaleta:
‘Dissapointed with a point, Chelsea is always a very tough team to beat away. but still unbeaten! Another clean sheet!’
