Fortress Etihad remains intact as The Blues continue a stealthy, unbeaten pursuit of The Stretfords. Post Match Reaction to the crucial win over Tottenham…

Roberto Mancini:

‘It was a huge win because it was a difficult moment. We had a lot of important players injured and today I saw the same spirit from the players that I saw last year. In the first half we played well. Tottenham didn’t have chances apart from a couple of set pieces. We need to improve there. But after they scored I thought we played fantastic…Today we deserved to win this game, the players were fantastic. The supporters were fantastic and in the second half they were like the 12th player on the pitch.

‘The Premier League season is long and difficult. There are a lot of teams who can fight for the title. Tottenham can come back and fight for it, as can Arsenal. We made some mistakes in the Champions League but in football you can never say never.

‘Dzeko is not happy. A player who is happy on the bench does not exist. We had three important strikers today, last year we won the championship because of goals from our strikers.’

Andre Villas-Boas:

‘We wanted to avoid 1-1. After 1-1 you have to be very careful. When Mancini went with three at the back, we had to adapt in a certain way…we still had a couple of opportunities but around the 60th minute was a key moment. We conceded and it was difficult after that…City kept on going and put everything to try and get the result in the last minute. We looked good in the first half and didn’t deserve to concede for the game to go 1-1. We were playing well and they scored from the counter attack and it gave them the lift and that was the key moment for them. They gained extra motivation and it lifted the stadium up and attack after attack it was difficult to hold on…’

David Platt:

‘Our focus is winning football matches, nothing else. That is our motivation. We had a football match to win and we needed three points and we had to fight hard to turn this around.’

Joe Hart:

‘A great performance and a great win. We were unlucky to be behind. Tottenham didn’t play the way they usually play and went more down the set piece route. They played really well and made things tough for us. Our spirit and quality are never in question and those two combined make us the team we are.’

Edin Dzeko:

‘It’s not the first time, but it’s still a great feeling! It shows our character that we are strong even when we are losing. I hope next time we will be winning 1-0 and win the game because this is a much harder way to play!’

CITY ON TWATTER:

Vincent Kompany:

‘What a game! Thank you to all the fans for their loud support! Great to see all those Belgian flags at the ground, really appreciate that.’

Kun Aguero:

‘We’ll never give up because we believe in what we can do. Great support from everyone in this @MCFC win. C’mon, City!!’

Pablo Zabaleta:

‘Hello everyone! Massive 3 pts today against Spurs. Great spirit by the team! Thanks to all the fans for the support!! Come on City!’
