I’ve been a Sky Sports subscriber for as long as the company has been around, err come to think of it, 25 years. OMG, I would hate to think how much I’ve paid into Rupert Murdoch’s coffers.

I’ve also subscribed to the long defunct Setanta Sports and now, BT Sport. But, without these sort of subscription channels I would have been left up stream and without a paddle.

The Sky Sports channels have, over the years reinvented themselves. But the one that stands out for me is Sky Sports News. I mean, for instance what on earth what we do on transfer deadline day?

People like Jim White, Jeff Stelling and the motley regular retired footballers on Soccer Saturday panel light up everyone’s weekend.

There is no doubt whatsoever, the Premier League and Sky Sports go hand-in-hand.

And of course, Premier League clubs have seen a massive increase in revenues.

It took a while for folk to get their head around paying to watch live TV games, but it’s been that long now that it has been ingrained into just about each and every one of us.
