The transfer deadline day came, hung around for 24 hours and then disappeared without any hint or mention of Manchester City’s out of favour Wayne Bridge leaving the Etihad Stadium.

The former England international made 18 West Ham United loan appearances last season but now it appears the 31-year-old left-back is going to enjoy the next couple of months watching football, either from the stands or on TV. Let’s be honest, there’s not a hope in hell City boss Roberto Mancini will give the former Chelsea player a squad number this season.

Future

The loan market for lower league clubs reopens in a couple of weeks time, therefore one can assume Wayne will either find himself playing in the Championship (or lower) or, enjoy reaping in his Premier League salary from the sidelines. Of course there is always January 2012 for Wayne to look forward to.
