“We will decide” – Pep Guardiola unsure whether key Man City man will face West Brom

Pep Guardiola admitted being unsure whether Sergio Aguero will feature in Manchester City’s Premier League meeting with West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night, saying he will decide on the day.

The 32-year-old has been sidelined with a knee injury that’s led to him missing City’s last three league outings – 5-0 win over Burnley (November 28), 2-0 win over Fulham (December 5), 0-0 draw with Manchester City (December 12) – but his recent return to training gives Guardiola a decision to make.

Pep said: “(Monday), he was training. The last two or three days he could not train. (Monday) he trained and we will decide (Tuesday).” Aguero has made only two league appearances this season and hasn’t featured in the top-flight since October.

He made the matchday squad in our 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur (November 21) and came off the bench in our Champions League wins over Olympiacos (November 25) and Olympique Marseille (December 9), but he’s not going to be match fit against Albion.

Gabriel Jesus led the line against Man Utd on Saturday and should keep his place on Tuesday. Alternatively, Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez and Ferran Torres are at Guardiola’s disposal, so he won’t be short of attacking options.
