19 year old Weiss played an important part in Slovakia’s 0-2 win over Northern Ireland in Belfast last night, his run and cross down the right flank leading to Stanislav Sestak’s opening goal.
The quicksilver Weiss, son of Slovakia coach Vladimir Weiss senior has steadily been making waves at SportCity, taking him through a starring role in last year’s FA Youth Cup Final win over Chelsea (what free kick he scored) right up to a more than promising performance in City’s 0-1 win at Barcelona’s packed Nou Camp cauldron last month.
Post match that night Mark Hughes said:
‘Barcelona have great depth, great young talent, but I thought Vladimir Weiss was the best young player out there tonight.’
