Kalvin Phillips has been short of playing time in his debut season at Manchester City and was called out by Pep Guardiola for putting on weight while on international duty, so things haven’t gone well since he left Leeds United.
The 27-year-old finds himself behind Rodri in the pecking order and hasn’t played a Premier League game for City since August. Phillips has been an unused substitute in their last three top-flight outings since returning from injury, so his long-term future might be up in the air.
And now, according to Wayne Veysey of Football Insider, West Ham United are interested. Phillips is reportedly ‘highly-rated’ by David Moyes who is considering a move for the 27-year-old if Declan Rice leaves – he’s out of contract next summer, has spoken about wanting to play in the Champions League and been linked with a big-money move.
Phillips has made just four appearances in all competitions since joining from the Whites in July, amassing a paltry 53 minutes of playing time. The England international has spent most of the campaign injured and hardly featured in the World Cup due to a lack of fitness, so might West Ham be taking a risk making a move?
