What A Difference A Day Makes

Since the transfer market was slammed shut, Manchester City is being linked with every Tom, Dick and Harry possible.

A little over two years ago, I was excited over the signings of Emile Mpenza, Kiki Musampa, Robbie Fowler and John Macken. Most of these players put the work in, and delivered something, but they were never going to get Man City solidly inside the top 6. As time past, Anelka, McManaman and others joined City but failed to live up to the flair of their reputation. Man City needed investment in a bid to step out of the shadow of their Manchester neighbours.

1st of September 2008. The day City knew they could challenge at the very top. Forget Mpenza, Anelka, and Fowler, City where putting bids in for Villa, Gomez, Torres, and Robinho, who did make the move to Eastlands. What a difference a day makes.

What makes me laugh about the takeover impending on City, is the fact every person and organisation in the football world, wants their two pennies worth. Robinho`s move shocked the world, but particularly the great Pele. He could not wait to get stuck in and slate Robinho`s Decision. Sir Alex and Scolari also seem to want to stick their nose in, which I believe to be out of jealousy.

The only opinion I am interested in however, is the opinion of the players. Kaka, Van Persie, Fabregas, Gomez, Buffon, and other world-class players, have all said something about City and their new found wealth. The word is spreading, and I would not be surprised to hear other players or managers talking about City.

We are the team to be right now.
